Ingredients


  • 1 onion, peeled and halved
  • 2 cups (300g) dry pinto beans, rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cumin
  • 6 cups (1350ml) water

Method


  1. Combine all ingredients in the crockpot.
  2. Cook on high for 8 hours or leave them overnight while you are sleeping.
  3. Remove the bigger onion chunks and drain the extra liquid. Save some of the excess liquid to add back to the final product to reach the ideal consistency of beans (you don’t want them too dry).
  4. Mash remaining beans with a potato masher and you’re done!
