Ingredients


  • 1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (147g) unsweetened applesauce, at room temperature
  • 2 cups (340g) packed brown sugar
  • 2¾ cups (385g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (38g) plus 2 tbsp. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Non-stick cooking spray and extra flour to prepare the pan

Method


  1. Melt the butter, then add the applesauce and set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare a 9x13 pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray and flouring it.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Once the butter mixture is cooled, add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each one.
  5. Add in the vanilla.
  6. Add in the dry ingredients and mix well, incorporating all of the flour mixture.
  7. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes at 325°F (162°C).
  9. Once cooled, cut into 24 bars.
