Ingredients


  • 1 pound “Extra Lean” ground beef (at least 95% fat-free)
  • 1/2 cup (63g) plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup (56ml) fat-free milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup (40g) onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups (900g) of your favorite fat-free tomato sauce

Method


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C).
  2. In a large bowl mix all ingredients except tomato sauce.
  3. Roll into small balls (approx. 1.5 inch) and place on cookie sheet that has been lined with non-stick foil.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until internal temperature has reached minimum of 160 degrees F; turn meatballs halfway through cooking time.
  5. In large saucepan, add tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add meatballs and simmer for 15- 20 minutes.
  7. Serve over your favorite pasta.
  8. Makes 24 meatballs.
